Interested in Becoming a Page?

In order to become a Legislative Assembly page, you must contact your school principal and let him or her know that you would are interested. Each school is responsible for choosing the pages. The Coordinator of Administrative Services will contact local (Yellowknife) schools asking for pages to work in the Legislative Assembly. Only one school is chosen per Session to supply the pages. If you are interested, let your principal know as soon as possible - positions fill up quickly!

Students from communities other than Yellowknife also have the opportunity to become pages at the Legislative Assembly. Simply contact your MLA and say that you are interested in becoming a page. Your MLA can then apply to the Coordinator of Administrative Services to have students in his or her riding become pages during a particular session. While you are in Yellowknife fulfilling your page duties at the Legislative Assembly, you will attend school in the mornings before session begins.

The Important Stuff

Pages get paid $7.10 an hour. The Legislative Assembly provides the uniform with the exception of shoes which you must provide. Sittings go from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday and on Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The usual workday is six hours; however, a sitting can often be expected to run late. Pages are required to stay until they are no longer needed. If you cannot stay late on a particular day please notify the Coordinator of Administrative Services or the Sergeant-At-Arms.

If you have any questions, you can call the Coordinator of Administrative Services at (867) 669-2221.
