Location: Nahanni Butte is situated at the junction of the South Nahanni and Liard Rivers at 61'02'N latitude and 123'23'W longitude. Located 142 air km southwest of Fort Simpson, Nahanni Butte is 507 air km southwest of Yellowknife.

Access: Nahanni Butte is accessible by chartered aircraft, water or barge and scheduled service from Fort Simpson. A winter ice road connects the community to the Liard Highway.
History: Most of the residents in Nahanni Butte are Slavey Dene. The community was founded when people from Netla River were moved 24 km to the present site by government. Today trapping is still a main source of income along with tourism. Nahanni National Park, fantastic scenery, wildlife and outdoor activities make this a popular tourist spot.
