As an educational outreach program of the Speakers’ Office, the Mace Tour connects the Legislative Assembly and its elected officials to NWT communities that do not have direct access to the Legislative Assembly building in Yellowknife.

Overall, the Mace Tour serves to personalize the Legislative Assembly and its officials while educating NWT’s youth and residents about consensus government, the Legislative Assembly, Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and staff of the Office of the Clerk.

On April 30, 2018, the Mace Tour arrives in Ulukhaktok, NT.

This will include researching community concerns, meeting with their MLA to discuss issues, writing a Member's or Minister's statement, thinking about and writing questions for Question Period, learning the process of making a bill into a law, and having lots of fun! One student from each constituency in the Northwest Territories is selected to come to Yellowknife for this special event.

17 Youth Parliament: Mock Session

The public is invited to come to the Public Gallery to observe the proceedings of the culmination of Youth Parliament, the Mock Session. This is where the selected students from across the Northwest Territories will debate motions they've created, deliver Ministers' and Members' statements, and much more. This will include words from the Commissioner of the Northwest Territories, the Honourable Margaret Thom.

There will be a reception at 3:00pm, halfway through the event, to celebrate all the hard work of the students, the future leaders of the Northwest Territories.
