Ledge Talks: The Knowledge Series

(YELLOWKNIFE)  Monday, January 12, 2015 – The Legislative Library is pleased to announce the first Ledge Talks: The Knowledge Series for 2015 will be held on January 14, 2015 at 7:30 pm in the Great Hall of the Legislative Assembly Building.  “A Glimpse of the Future: Insights into Water Resources in a New and Warmer NWT” will be presented by Dr. William L. (Bill) Quinton, co-Director of the Cold Regions Research Centre, and Dr. Philip Marsh, a Canada Research Chair in Cold Regions Water Science at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Dr. Quinton and Dr. Marsh are experts in the field of hydrology with, between them, six decades of experience working in the North. Their research is part of the GNWT-Wilfrid Laurier University Partnership on water and cold-region research. Dr. Quinton will focus on his research in the southern NWT and Dr. Marsh will discuss his work in the northern NWT.

There will be time for questions and discussion following the presentation. Media and the public are welcome.

Ledge Talks: The Knowledge Series is a forum for a wide variety of speakers to present current ideas, science, traditional knowledge, and issues relevant to the Northwest Territories and beyond.  Ledge Talks will also showcase research done by the many GNWT employees – often with collaborating partners – who are making substantial contributions to the world’s understanding of the North.
