Job Evaluation Appeals – GNWT employees
Employees of the GNWT have another right related to the value of their work and their pay that can be confused with the right to equal pay for work of equal value. Because the GNWT has a job evaluation and universal pay plan, a GNWT employee’s pay is based on the value of the job he or she performs. Sometimes a concern about the pay you receive for your job is not really a concern about equal pay for work of equal value, but is a concern that your job has not been correctly valued. You believe that you are being paid less than others, not because you are doing “female” work that is under-rated compared to male work, but because the full value of your has not been accurately reflected in the evaluation of your job.
In these situations, GNWT employees can make a complaint following the process set out under the collective agreement. Excluded employees have a similar process. You should raise your concern with your manager or director and the Deputy Head.
