Public Hearing on Bill 20 in N'dilo

Want to have a say in what a Territorial Ombudsperson could do for you? 

The Standing Committee on Government Operations is seeking public input on the following:

Bill 20: Ombudsperson Act

The Bill establishes an Ombudsperson who acts on behalf of NWT residents who have concerns about how they are treated in their dealings with the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). The Ombudsperson will have investigative powers to determine if the GNWT is conducting its business according to established laws, policies, and principles of procedural fairness.  The Ombudsperson will also have the authority to make recommendations to the GNWT to improve its legislation, policies, and procedures.
 

When:     Monday, September 17, 2018

Location:  N'dilo Gym

Time:        12:00pm

Additional communities and consultation dates for Bill 20 will be posted to the website in the coming days.

Written submissions are welcome until September 28, 2018.

Bill 18: Cities, Towns & Villages Act

This Bill proposes amendments to the Cities, Towns, and Villages (CTV) Act to authorize municipal councils to impose a tax on tourist accommodations and to pass bylaws allowing property owners to finance energy efficiency or renewable energy works through local improvement charges.
