Public Hearing on Bill 20
Want to have a say in what a Territorial Ombudsperson could do for you?
The Standing Committee on Government Operations is seeking public input on the following:
Bill 20: Ombudsperson Act
The Bill establishes an Ombudsperson who acts on behalf of NWT residents who have concerns about how they are treated in their dealings with the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT). The Ombudsperson will have investigative powers to determine if the GNWT is conducting its business according to established laws, policies, and principles of procedural fairness. The Ombudsperson will also have the authority to make recommendations to the GNWT to improve its legislation, policies, and procedures.
If you wish to use any of the official languages of the Northwest Territories other than English, please contact the Committee Clerk before 5 pm September 13.
