19th Assembly Meets with Northern Leaders
(YELLOWKNIFE)  October 10th, 2019 – The Caucus of the 19th Legislative Assembly will host a roundtable discussion with Northern Leaders on October 17th, 2019 at 9:00 am at the Tree of Peace Friendship Centre in Yellowknife.
 
Leaders from the following NWT regional Indigenous governments have been invited to join the Members at the table: Dehcho First Nations, Dene Nation, Deninu K'ue First Nation, Gwich'in Tribal Council, Inuvialuit Regional Corporation, Kátł’odeeche First Nation, Łutsel K’e Dene First Nation, North Slave Métis Alliance, Northwest Territories Association of Communities, Northwest Territory Métis Nation, Sahtu Secretariat Incorporated, Salt River First Nation, Smith's Landing First Nation, Tłı̨chǫ Government, Yellowknives Dene First Nation Dettah and Yellowknives Dene First Nation Ndilǫ.
 
This meeting will provide a forum for leaders to share their perspectives and voice their concerns and interests about the many issues and opportunities the Northwest Territories is faced with today.
 
A meeting of the Members of the Legislative Assembly and all regional Indigenous Government Leaders occurring so early in the life of a Legislative Assembly aims to build strong relationships as well as inform Members as they begin the process of setting the Priorities of the 19th Legislative Assembly.
 
Media and the public are invited to attend the meeting at the Tree of Peace; the meeting will also be live-streamed on the Legislative Assembly’s Facebook page, Twitter page, YouTube channel and LA website. The Media is invited to interview participants of the Northern Leaders’ roundtable at the conclusion of the meeting at 4:00 pm on Thursday.
