Deadline for nominations for the Order of the NWT is quickly approaching

(Yellowknife)  – The Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories is calling on residents of the Northwest Territories to submit nominations for the Order of the NWT before Friday, September 4.

 

The Order of the Northwest Territories was established in 2013 by the Territorial Emblems and Honours Act to recognize individuals who have served with the greatest distinction and excelled in any field of endeavor benefiting the people of the Northwest Territories or elsewhere. It is the highest honour awarded to residents of the Northwest Territories.

 

This award is available to any Canadian citizen that is a current or former resident of the Northwest Territories. Order nominations can be submitted by either an individual or an organization that wishes to recognize a member of their community that has either professionally or personally made an outstanding contribution towards benefitting the people of the north in any field of his or her choosing.

 

A maximum of ten people may receive the Order in 2015. In subsequent years, up to three people will receive the award annually.
